This issue consists of an editorial on electronic publishing followed by an interview with A. V. Arhangel'skii written by Karen Shenfeld reprinted from the Summer 1993 issue of The Idler with the permission of the publisher.
Responses to the editorial are invited. The excellence of the exposition Ms. Shenfeld's article "In The Neighborhood of Mathematical Space" shows how it is possible to write an article about a leading topologist of interest both to mathematicians and a general audience. There will be other interviews in future issues, and at first I was frightened that this interview might set too high a standard for future ones. What changed my mind is that it shows a direction towards which we should aim as electronic publishing frees us from the need to be so terse as to lose anyone but experts.
Exclusive reprint in Topology Atlas from the Summer 1993 issue of The Idler with kind permission of the publisher.
