Spring Topology and Dynamics Conference

Since the first Point Set Topology Conference at Arizona State University in 1967, the Spring Topology Conference has established itself as one of the largest and most successful annual topology conferences in the United States. About one hundred and fifty mathematicians particpate in this three day conference each Spring. With exceptions, the conference is usually hosted by a university in southeastern U.S.A.. The conference typically features about twenty invited speakers and over fifty contributed talks running in a few concurrent sessions. The conference has been successful in securing NSF funding most years and financial support for graduate students has been often available. Participants come from USA, Mexico, Canada, Japan, Russia, Europe (UK, the Netherlands, Poland, ...) and elsewhere too. For many paticipants, this conference is the most important conference of the year, giving them an opportunity to interact with a large number of active topologists, both within and outside of their specialties. The traditional topics of the conference have expanded to encompass most of the major branches of topology. It now regularly has invited speakers in geometric topology, set-theoretic topology, general topology, continuum theory, topological algebra and dynamical systems.

Starting from the 1976 conference at Auburn University, the journal Topology Proceedings, published at Auburn University, has published the proceedings of the conferences. Since 1994, the Spring Topology Conference has been hosted concurrently with the Southeast Dynamical Systems Conference.

In 1997, the conference restructured and formalized its own steering committee. Wayne Lewis is chair of the steerintg committee.
