THE 1997 SPRING TOPOLOGY AND DYNAMICS CONFERENCE
3rd announcement

You are invited to attend the 31st Annual Spring Topology Conference, being held jointly with the 9th Dynamical Systems Conference. This conference will encompasses general/set theoretic topology, continuum theory, geometric topology, topological algebra, and dynamics. The program will include over 20 invited addresses and about 50 contributed papers. Some past hosts have been Ball State University (1996), the University of Delaware (1995), Auburn University (1994), the University of South Carolina (1993), and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (1992).

The 1997 conference will be hosted by the University of Southwestern Louisiana and be held at the Hotel of Acadiana in Lafayette, LA. Invited and contributed presentations will fill the mornings and afternoons of Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, April 10-12.

Call for Contributed Papers
You are encouraged to contribute a quarter-hour talk at the conference. Contributed papers will be scheduled in parallel sessions. Please indicate your intention when you register, and submit an abstract before March 1, 1997 to the Topology Atlas at http://www.utm.edu/~jschomme/submiss.htm. They will post your abstract. Please also send us a copy of your abstract to Roger Waggoner here at USL. The web site for viewing the abstracts is: http://at.yorku.ca/c/a/a/m/01.htm.

Graduate Students
A grant from NSF is providing some travel support for graduate students. A student wishing to be considered for this should have his major professor send a letter of recommendation to the local organization committee.

Travel Information
By Air: The Lafayette Airport is served by American Eagle Airlines, Continental Airlines, Atlantic Southeast Airlines, and Northwest Airlink. The Hotel Acadiana provides a free airport shuttle.
By Road: Lafayette is 49 miles west of Baton Rouge on I-10. It is also the southern terminus of I-49 which has its northern terminus in Shreveport, LA.

Lodging Information
We have reserved blocks of rooms at two local hotels. The Hotel Acadiana, at $63.+ tax per night, (318) 233-8120, is the site of the conference. The Travelodge, at $47. + tax per night, (318) 234-7402 is located about 1/2 mile from the Hotel Acadiana. There are a number of restaurants within walking distance of these hotels. Please reserve your room as soon as possible and make sure to ask for the "Spring Topology Conference" room rate.
