On definability of function classes by equations and relational constraints
by

Properties of functions may be defined by functional equations, inequalities, and other predicates with restricted syntax. Some properties, i.e. classes of functions, may be defined by the relations that the functions preserve. Still other properties are naturally defined by the constrained syntax of algebraic formulas used to express the function. Some recent results related to these definability notions will be surveyed.
Current work on the universal algebraic aspects of function class definability discussed in this presentation is being done jointly with Miguel Couceiro.
