Computing cohomology with group ring coefficients

I will give a quick survey indicating why someone would be interested in the cohomology of a group G with ZG coefficients, and then give some concrete examples indicating how such computations can be accomplished. The examples portion will certainly mention work that is joint with many people, most notably Mike Davis, Ruth Charney, Kim Whittlesey and Craig Jensen (chronological order).
