Impulsively Forced Faraday Waves

We consider one-dimensional surface waves excited by time-periodic vertical acceleration of a fluid layer. We focus on periodic forcing functions composed of a sequence of delta function impulses and perform a weakly nonlinear analysis based on the Zhang-Vinals quasipotential model, valid for deep layers of low viscosity fluids, that yields fully analytical expressions for the bifurcation equation coefficients. We then use results for sinusoidal and multi-frequency forcing functions to better understand some of our results for impulsive forcing.
