An eigenvalue approach to the simple immigration-catastrophe model.
by

Coauthors: David M. Monarres, Randall J. Swift

In this talk the transient probability functions for a simple immigration catastrophe process are obtained. This process was first considered by R.J. Swift, A Simple Immigration-Catastrophe Process, The Mathematical Scientist, Vol. 25 (1), 32-36, 2000. In this talk, the transient solutions are obtained via eigenvalues from the Jordan decomposition of the rate matrix Q. This method holds promise for further generalizations to other birth-death processes.
