Construction and application of a class of modular functions

In this talk we will describe a systematic method of constructing modular functions on \Gamma0(N), \Gamma1(N), and \Gamma(N) using the generalized Dedekind eta functions. We will demonstrate that this class of functions can be used to obtain defining equations of modular curves, and also to obtain explicit modular parametrization of certain elliptic curves.
