Counting orbits in finite group algebras
by
Alain LeBel
RMIT University
Recent work with shift actions on cocycles suggest that most coboundaries have a maximal orbit. The ``proof'' comes from a link with finite group algebras, where the group action is merely left multiplication. This talk will explain the link, give some methods of counting orbits and describe some thoughts on proving that unfaithful orbits are rare.
