Birth Death Processes with Polynomial Transition Rate

In this talk, birth death processes with polynomial transition rates are considered. The steady-state probabilities and moments of these process are obtained in terms of a generalized hypergeometric function. These process are a natural generalization of well-known birth death processes and are compared to several deterministic population models.
