We say that a Banach space X is a weak Asplund space if every continuous convex function defined on a non-empty open convex subset A of X is Gâteaux differentiable at the points of a residual subset of A. In the study of weak Asplund spaces, Banach spaces of the form C(K) where C(K) denotes the Banach space of continuous functions on a compact space K, have received special attention. In this talk, we examine when such Banach spaces belong to the class of weak Asplund spaces.
