Topological Fundamental Groups Can Distinguish Spaces with Isomorphic Homotopy Groups
Paul Fabel
There is a natural functor p1top which imparts a topology on the based fundamental group of a space X. We exhibit examples in which p1top succeeds in distinguishing the homotopy of the spaces X and Y when such tools as the Whitehead theorem and shape theory are unsuccessful.
