Classic Problems-25 years later (Part 1)
Peter Nyikos
About a quarter of a century ago, as Problems Editor of the
then newly-founded journal Topology Proceedings, I published a pair
of articles in the first and second volumes of the journal, titled
``Classic Problems.'' Each article showcased four unsolved problems which
I considered, for a variety of reasons, to have become classics of
general topology. Each problem was accompanied by a number of equivalent
problems and related problems. The purpose of this article is to give a
more detailed account of progress on the first four problems and to
stimulate additional research on them.
